Translated:
"A blessed, long living, great, courteous welcome,
An affectionate, charitable, just, proper, true hearted welcome,
A welcome and twenty, and I add, hundreds to them,
Like the surge of the stream is,my welcome to you."
- The Kelly Welcome
This year has been rough on the Kelly Family. We have struggled, we have been beaten, we have been kicked around, and we lost one of our own.
However the Kelly Family through it all rides it on with a smile, a good hearty head butt and a keg of the finest beers and bottles of whiskey.
We persevere, we get stronger and we love harder.
We keep laughing and we keep holding on.
We are as fierce now as when Tadhg Mor O'Kelly fell on the fields of Clontarf in the year of our lord 1014 A.D. When Tadhg fell in battle, he fell fighting like a wolf dog. Like the ancient Irish folk hero Chu'chulainn... Tadhg also was mortally wounded and he fought on knowing he was dying.
This courage carried on down the line and with each generation of Kellys, we grew stronger and stronger until you see this proud family that stands before you today.
While the Kelly Family is no longer vastly wealthy with money as the clan once was, we are rich in family, in heart, in spirit, in resolve, in intellect and we will never fade quietly into oblivion.
We will trumpet our clarion call and stride forward.
And all of you will either find in us the strongest friend or the most savage enemy.
2008 holds much promise.
Turris Fortis mihi Deus
God is my Tower of Strength
