Last week my brakes started grinding.
I went to a friend of mine with the know how and the tools and I asked him if he could teach me to change them myself.
He was a bit reluctant and I later found out why, normally when people approach him and they ask him to change them... he ends up doing all of the work.
So I picked up the pads and rotors and I went over there to hang with him and his brother... and I immediately set to work replacing everything and they only intervened to show me a better way of doing something or to inspect the work I was doing.
After about an hour and a half I had everything changed out and I moved on to spark plugs and wires.
They both told me that they were genuinely surprised, they said out of everyone ever asking for help... I am the only one that ever did the work themselves.
Finally once all of the work was done, we took it for a spin. I did an awesome job, the brakes worked fantastic and the power lagging in my van was gone. I have power again... and I did it myself.
I feel pretty good.
On top of this... My wife and I paid off another one of our minor debts... leaving 1 left.
Almost debt free.
Yes... now you too can be Marty McFly and zip around in your very own time machine... I mean... DaLorean. Thanks to 'Back to the Future' I have long wanted one of these cars.
Now all I have to do is win the lottery, buy the car and one of those goofy orange vests and I will be all set.
The total cost of one of these hand made cars is not too horribly bad considering that it takes 2 months to build one of them by hand, it will cost $57,500 and that is roughly the price of it back in 1981 at today's dollar value.
So come on... be honest... who wants one?
I am raising 2 hands and jumping up and down like a 5 year old on Lucky Charms.
