For some reason unknown to man, TadhgMor was a name banned by that server. Very odd indeed as it is the name of an ancestor of mine and does not contain anything bad, so I renamed myself to CorrinMor and dived in.
I was in Stormwind and so I immediately took flight to the blasted lands and hit the Dark Portal. If you have ever seen the Dark Portal before, it really is a cool object. Pretty tall and spooky looking, but nothing...nothing prepared me for what I was about to see once I stepped though.
The portal on the other side is massive. Probably the most spectacular thing you will see... the developers wanted to simply shock you. I am not going to spoil it for you here, just be prepared to be in awe.
My jaw hung open as I used a few colorful metaphors in sheer shock.
Now, I find myself at Honor Keep and doing some quests. I used the new LFG interface to run the new instances, which were a challenge and only took an hour to go through. Yes, the new starter instances are that short.
The drops though, green common drops, are better than most rares and epics I have seen. Yes you heard me right, the green gear is better. I used a devout crown until last night when a green headband dropped that almost mirrored the devout stats and included +46 to healing, +46 to Damage from Spells. I also got a pair of mail pants to sell that had +61 stamina. Yes you just read that right... +61 to Stamina. It it really too bad that this is the test server and none of this stuff is going to carry over.
Lots of fun, this expansion is going to be so worth it.
I had always wondered what would happen if you took 40 of any one class out and had some fun. These players found out with their Druids.
Since I had to go to bed in about an hour after the invite, I went ahead and downloaded the client and began the installation.
I knew when I woke up I would have to experience a few patches before I could play.
Of course for the next hour and a half it was....patch.... wait.... patch.... wait. Over and over again. Now this concerned me, as the expansion was supposed to be launched this month and they pushed back the release to January. Do they already have the discs pressed?
If they have not gone to press yet, then I am not concerned, but if they have it done and the boxes are sitting there while they tidy things up, does that mean that the player base is going to have to patch 6-8 times before they can play it? Or will they combine everything into 1 patch and run it that way?
I understand the patching process is necessary to correct bugs and add new content, but the patches should be minimal when you receive the game. It should not take someone 2 or 3 hours to install and play something when you bring it home.
I can understand an hour to set everything up, even though I do not like it, I can at least understand it.
Ok, so with 15 minutes before I had to get ready for work I jumped in and created a Blood Elf Paladin and took a look around their city, did a dance to amuse myself and killed a few mana worms. So, no realy word yet on what I think about it yet. I will give a better review when they finish copying over my priest and I can see the high end stuff.
It is said that his attack is an AOE Shadowbolt that does not need line of site to land. There is a 0% chance to dodge it and when you die he heals himself for 70,000.
Now add Stormwind in the mix, shake and stir.
