If there is only one negative thing I can say about this series is that I wish that Danny Elfman had done the music. I think he could have added that specific bit of charm to it.
Not that this series is lacking this was an amazing pilot.
It has a style much like the movies 'Big Fish' and 'A Series of Unfortunate Events', this is a fairy tale of a man named Ned who is known as the Pie Maker.
The series wasted no time in telling us about Ned's gift and the rules of the gift as the story starts out about a boy and his dog. A dog that quickly discovers the grill of a speeding truck.
Ned touches his beloved pet and suddenly the dog bounds to life and runs off through the fields. Nearby a squirrel drops dead and falls from a tree.
The narrator, the legendary Jim Dale, tells us that Ned's gift comes with a few caveats. The dead can come back for 1 minute. He must touch them again after that 1 minute or someone else's life must be taken to fill the void. If he does touch them again, they are really dead and they cannot come back ever again. They are dead dead.
So the rules laid in place and the story begins at the funeral of his mother, whom he brought back from the dead and then touched him again and gained perma death...and his childhood friend whose father's life was exchanged for Ned's mothers. I really cannot explain it here and do it justice... but due to a series of events Ned had learned of his gift and lives were lost in the process.
Ned grew up and kept everyone at arm's length, he became a pie maker and his pies were made with the fruits that he rejuvenates with his gift.
Ned has a partner, Emerson Cod, played by Chi McBride, together Emerson and Ned bring back the dead to find out whom killed them and then they solve the murder and collect the reward.
Everything is fine until his childhood friend Charlotte "Chuck" is murdered and he goes to find out who killed her, but Ned is confused. He is not after just the reward.
I am going to stop talking about the plot at this time. I want to talk about this show. It just feels good, it is funny, quirky and very well written. While this show was the number 2 most watched show the night it premiered, it is too well made. I fear that this will be a huge hit for many of us, but too many might be put off by it and I pray that this is not the case.
I do not want to see this show canceled, but when something is really great there is only way to go with these networks. Out the door.
Please, if there is any good left in this world... do not let this show be canceled.
I read someone's shallow review about this show is simply too simple...
Well, that was rather determined in the intro wasn't it? The rules plainly laid out for us?
Why does everything we watch have to be complicated and full of massive amounts of mystery or story. Can we not occasionally enjoy a simply fairy tale?
SPOILERS

Ok, I have a TON of stuff I want to say about this episode. A TON of stuff. But I do not have enough time to write as I have work early in the morning.
I about cried with Charlie's scene.
Too much to say... will write more later.
I am watching Lost right now, have to toss out this theory.
Is Jacob... Goodspeed?
And is it just me or does Goodspeed look like a young Brad Dourif?
That would be cool if Jacob is played by Brad Dourif...lol
Ok..back to show
Was there a new Lost episode last night?
I drank myself to sleep after some Vodka and Blackberry Wine and I really don't remember much but waking up around 11 and realized that my wife accidently crashed too.
I tried to wake her up and ask her but I got a "Snort, grunt... ooff... repeat episode.....zzzzzzz"
So was it really a repeat?

I hate sitting through a few episodes of a season and then I sit around waiting for 13 weeks for the next one.
Because 24 is running straight on this season I have been extremely content and eager to watch each new episode. I would like to see all the great shows run this way.

SPOILERS AHOY for those whom have not watched last night's Lost.
This second half of this season of Lost has really renewed my faith in the series. I was getting a bit sick of the Kate, Jack and Sawyer triangle that dominated the begining of this season.
Enough of that though, all of these recent episodes have been interesting, exciting and we are getting the info.
Since Season 2, we kinda knew that Claire and Jack might be brother and sister and last night the writers finally confirmed it for us. I just wish Claire and Jack knew this fact, it would be awesome for Jack to have someone in his family he could be close to and help protect while on the Island, thus giving him a cause to fight for besides simple survival. Cause...well...Jack is also an Uncle... little Aaron is his little nephew...fantastic.
Also, the security fence that killed off The Wishmaster, I mean... that killed off General Goroth... I mean... that killed Andrew Divoff's Mikhail Bakunin was frikkin cool.
Then... the ending with Jack no longer locked up, and playing football??? Having a great time??
Ok, so, what information does he have? What great secret is shared that suddenly he seems ok with everything? All the tail section folks are free and walking and enjoying life. What is this secret that is so enlightening that these people want to eventually die on the island? Bakunin told Locke thank you when Locke tossed his ass at the fence.
Bakunin killed that other "Other", I cannot think of her name. She begged to be killed instead of captured... so what the snot?
This secret sounds pretty enlightening but it also seems to be some kind of Pandora's Box or doorway to Dante's Inferno.
Something that everyone is ok with...but then later some truth is revealed. Kind of like Alex's boyfriend when they found him tied to that chair and the screens were going all Clockwork Orange on the kid.
